Give Input on the Texas Active Transportation Plan on January 31

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is developing its first Statewide Active Transportation Plan (SATP), and BikeTexas is hosting a free input meeting for Texas residents via Zoom on Wednesday, January 31, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration is required to attend.

TxDOT owns and manages some of the most challenging and dangerous roads in Denton for people traveling outside of an automobile. These roads include University Drive / 380, I-35, Loop 288, Teasley Lane, Dallas Drive, Elm Street and Locust Street.

According to TxDOT’s Crash Records Information System (CRIS), 33 pedestrians and cyclists have been killed on roadways in the City of Denton since the beginning of 2014. Of these traffic fatalities, 88 percent occurred on or along a TxDOT roadway.
